Notice in this verse that God says, "When you pass through the waters," and "when you pass through the rivers." Pay attention to that word when. God is not saying, "if we have to go through waters," or "maybe you might have to go through rivers," he is telling us that we will, in fact, endure trials. However, when we do endure these trials, God has promised that He will be right there next to us, and when the waves of negativity or struggle come against us, He is not going to let them sweep over us. He stands strong above it all, and He is standing for us.
