"Hope anchors the soul." Hebrews 6:19
Think of an anchor on a boat or a ship. What is its purpose? Its purpose is to hold the boat in one place despite what the water is doing. Think about it this way, we are the boat, life is the water, and our anchor, that is our hope. When our boats go out onto the waters, we can be riding smoothly for a while, but we might run into some bumpy waters. These rough waves can throw our boat around and make us feel disoriented as to where we are, but once we put our anchor down, once we steady ourselves on some strong-holding place, our boat begins to calm down and be still, despite what the waves are doing. That is what hope can do. It can take the situation and, once we find and use the hope that we have, it will calm our waves. So, I encourage you today, that no matter how rough your waves are or no matter how much your boat is being tossed around, release your anchor.
