"Love the Lord God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength." Mark 12:30
We have talked about God loving us, and how that is a wonderful unending love. But what about us loving Him? How do we go about doing that when we know how much He loves us? How can we love Him that much? Well, as it says in Mark 12:30, We need to "love the Lord God with all of our heart, soul, mind, and strength." Many of you have probably heard this verse many times, but have you ever really gone deeper into what it is telling us to do?
First of all, it tells us to love Him with all of our heart. Give your heart to God! All the only thing that this part is telling us to do is to love God.
Next, we need to love Him with all of our soul. Keep your soul kind. Having a loving, caring, and generous soul. When people see you, let others see the joyful soul that you have inside of you, and when they see that joy, when they see that certain light about you, they will see God, and honoring Him by taking care of your soul and keeping it uplifted and joyful, that is another way that you can show God how much you love Him.
The verse goes on to say that we need to love Him with all of our mind. Think of positive, joyful, uplifting things! Do not let your mind be filled with negativity. Do not let those joyful thoughts be diminished just because someone might have said something to you. Keep your mind in good spirits! Focus on all of the blessings and the miracles in your life!
Lastly, it tells us to love God with all of our strength. Now what does this mean exactly? Well, it simply means to use your strength to do things that honor God. Go out and help others, take care of yourself, and do things that fill your heart, soul, and mind with joy! But what about when we lose our strength? Well that is the great part, when you love God, when you don't have enough strength to go on, He will lift you up and carry you.
So even though there is no way that we could love God as much as He first loved us, we can show our love back to him and honor Him by doing these things.
