Go To The Rock

"When my heart is overwhelmed lead me to the rock that is higher than I." Psalm 61:2

We all get overwhelmed. That is really just part of life, and no matter what it may be, a big deal or a small one, we can get lost in the midst of this overwhelming situation. When things are swirling around us, we try to figure out where to go and when we can't, we are so confused and stressed that it is hard to see past anything besides your situation. How do we fix this? How do we lift ourselves out of this spot we are in and take our eyes off of the situation at hand?
Well, let's start with the first priority, now, if you are in this situation, I want you to take a minute, take a minute or two, or even three out of your day, and close your eyes. Close your eyes and clear your mind. Just for a minute, you don't have to think of all that is going on around you. You don't have to worry. Just close your eyes and clear your mind. Now breath. Take a huge breath in and let it back out again, and do that a few more times. Then open your eyes and say "God, 'lead me to the rock that is higher than I."
What does this mean exactly? Well, you are asking God, to take you out of your situation, to lift you high above your troubles to the rock, the solid, grounded, strong, and unbreakable rock that is not going anywhere. Know this, that this rock, when the verse says "that is higher than I," it is telling you that God can handle more than you can. God is more powerful, stronger, and He can handle any situation that you might have.
So today, take these steps if your heart is feeling overwhelmed, and know that you will get out of this situation. Just go to the rock.
