By His Wounds...

"By His wounds you have been healed." 1 Peter 2:24

Maybe you have seen this verse above before, maybe it is a very common verse for you to recite, or maybe it isn't, either way, today we are digging deeper into it. We are going to look at and see what 1 Peter 2:24 is really saying.
Okay, so let's start off with the verse itself. It says "By His wounds you have been healed." It says that those nails that Jesus took on the cross, the mark at His side and the holes in His hands, He took those so that you would not have to endure pain forever. He did that so that, when we are hurt, when we are in pain, we have Him on our side, and He is going to come down and heal us of those wounds. So yes, that is the basis of this verse, but when we  dig a little deeper, we find some more meaning here. Think about it this way, if Jesus endured that pain so that you would not have to endure it, He also fought battles and He overcame the opposing forces so you would not have to. So today, why are we fighting battles that He has already won for us? Why are we thinking that we have to go out and battle these opposing forces that are coming against us? Jesus took care of these battles. He has already endured them, so do you know what that means? It means that we do not have to fight them. Stop fighting battles that He has already won and go out today, and remember 1 Peter 2:24, and remember that "By His wounds you have been healed."
