"I'll convert their weeping into laughter, lavishing comfort, invading their grief with joy."
Jeremiah 31:13
Maybe today, you are just feeling down, feeling upset or discouraged. Not really over anything specific, but whatever the reason is that is troubling your heart today. If this is you right now, I pray for you, and I want to offer you a bit of encouragement to get you through.
So, where do we start when it comes to dealing with this sadness, this disappointment, this grief? Well, it's actually not really about you starting, but about letting God start. You see, Jeremiah 31:13 tells us everything we need to know. It tells us that God is going to turn our weeping into laughter. He is going to take those tears that you have cried in the palm of His hand, and He is going to create something beautiful out of them. Something so wonderful, that you will be laughing so full of joy when you experience it, not only that, but He is also going to turn our weeping into lavishing comfort. Now see, when you see that word, that word lavishing, what do you think of when you see it? Usually a luxurious life of a wealthy person comes to mind, and even though that might not be exactly what God is saying, He is promising you that He will turn that uncomfortable situation into a lavishing comfortable life. Now, this may not mean becoming rich and powerful, but it will mean that God is going to supply all of your needs. He is going to make sure that you are living your own lavish life. Lastly, and I love this part, it says that God promises that He is going to invade our grief with joy. See that? He is not just bringing the joy in, hoping that is replaces the sadness we have, but He is invading that sadness, that fear, that discouragement. He is breaking through those walls that those feelings put up and He is kicking grief, sadness, discouragement, fear, and worry out to make room for joy, who is coming in to stay.
So today, knowing these things, let God start dealing with how you are feeling. Let go of the control, read through these promises, and watch Him do His work.
