"Nobody rises to low expectations." Calvin Loyd
In your life today, what are your expectations for yourself? Not only that, but what expectations have you set for the day ahead of you? See, so many times I think that we set the bar so low because we don't want to be disappointed, but my friend, high expectations could lead to miraculous results!
Now you see, I think that we are told so often words such as, "don't get your hopes up," that we just come to understand the fact that if we do set high expectations, they are probably not going to be met, we are not going to live up to them, or it won't turn out as great as we are hoping. This is what comes to mind when we think of setting expectations, but what most people don't know is that it can be the opposite of that! We can not only use these expectations in a positive way, but we can better ourselves and the day that we are in when we set them!
Now what exactly do I mean by this? See, what if every day, we made a goal for ourselves? Something that we want to do, change, or a goal that we want to achieve? And what if, every day, we went out and met those expectations? Or at least work towards them. See, it doesn't necessarily seem that hard, does it? Now, I know that you might not be able to meet these goals that you set 100% of the time, but that's okay! Just get back up and try again the next day! God wants you to get up every day and work towards being a better you; the you that He created you to be, and when He sees you working at that and with each step that you take, you are going to see blessings from Him pour out upon you that you never would have seen before.
Now, what about expectations for the day? See, to do this, we need to wake up with a statement, a statement that says, "today is going to be...." and you would fill in the blank yourself. We need to set expectations for the day in front of us because, so often, we get caught up in our day-to-day routine, that that becomes what we expect. Our bar is set so low that there is no room for anything else, including the miracles and blessings of God, to enter. But if we would bring that bar a little higher and set high expectations on the day in front of us, saying that today will be miraculous, full of blessing, full of possible answers, full of opportunity? That is when God has room to step in and begin to work in ways that you never would of seen, and in ways that you could have never even imagined.
So today, set high expectations, not only on yourself, but on the day ahead of you, and just watch and be astonished by how God begins to work in new and amazing ways.
