"The Lord is my strength and my shield." Psalm 28:7
Today, maybe you feel as though you are carrying a burden around with you on your shoulders today. Maybe you feel like you are full of worry and anxiety. Or maybe you are overwhelmed with what is to come. But let me tell you today, that you don't have to rely on your own strength. You don't have put the pressure upon yourself to deal with it all, because God's got it taken care of.
Now, I want you to think about this; I know that we picture God as our provider, we know Him as our rock, and our protector, but what many people don't picture Him as is our shield. Now, personally, I like to picture God literally shielding us, shielding us from any negativity, any anxiety, any burdens that may try to get in. He wants our mind to stay fixed on Him, so He must shield you from the attempts that enemy makes of trying to get you to think these negative thoughts and dwell on these burdens that he brings to light. But see, we have to be willing to let God shield us from these things. So many times, we want control. We want to deal with this problem. We feel like maybe it will get taken care of if we take it into our own hands. But see, that is not what His shield is for! His shield is there to strengthen us, it is there to protect us from these things of the enemy so that we don't have to take them upon our shoulders, it is there to keep us standing upright, rather than being knocked down, and keep us filled with the strength of God rather than being drained of it like the enemy wants to do.
So today, just rest in the shield that God has for you, and know that you do not have to take this all upon your shoulders. He wants your mind to stay fixed on Him, and to do that, we must stop trying to control our situation, we must hand everything, all of our anxieties, all of our burdens, all of our stresses, over to Him, and allow Him to strengthen us and lay His shield, that will guard us from all of these things, over us.
