"To pray is to let go and let God take over." Philippians 4:6-7
In our prayer lives, I think that so often we pray to God, wanting Him to take all of a situation, however, most of those times we are not willing to give it all up. Does this sound like you today? If so, I want to encourage you that, as hard as it may be, when you let go, you are going to see God take over.
Now, trust me, I know that this is a hard act of faith to put into action, just considering the fact that we like to control our situations and we like to have a hand in whatever it is that is happening. Now, don't get me wrong, it is not a horrible thing to do, in fact, all of us do it, but when we do let go and when we completely surrender the situation and put it into God's hands, that is when we are going to see the answers that we have been looking for. That is when we are going to be led in the direction that God has to lead us to. But first, you, my friend, have to learn to let go.
So how is it that we do this? If we find it hard to let go of part of the situation, how are we supposed to let go of it completely? Well you see, the first step to this is to pray. It is to ask God to just take it from us and work in our lives like only He can. Praying to Him and asking Him to take it all is asking Him to take full control over the situation. Now, the next part, the next part is when we have to do our part and let go. Now, this is the hard part for most, but what you have to know is this; you can't do anything with the situation. You can't control it and you can't change it. God is going to get His way in the matter and that's that. But see, if we would instead give it over to Him, not only does He have all the room that He wants to work in our lives, but we feel more free. We feel less stressed when we know that God has taken this over and that He has the situation in the palm of His hand.
Think about it this way, after you pray, picture God asking you the question of "is this all of it?" And, answering honestly, reply to Him.
So today, give it all to God. Hand it all over to Him and let Him take it all off of your shoulders. For when you pray and let go of all of the control that you think you have, you are going to see God work in new ways and take over in your life, bringing to pass whatever it is that He has in store for you.
