What is faith?

"Faith is not the belief that God will do what you want. It is the belief that God will do what is right." Max Lucado

In our faith lives, I think that we so often forget what faith really is. I think that we so often forget that the way things happen or the way that they are going to turn out does not depend at all on what we want for ourselves. See, God sees what we need in our lives, and He is going to do what is right within them, His will is going to be done, and we will live the life that He has us to live. That is, if we would hand the control over to Him.
You see, I think that this is one of the parts that most people have trouble with in their faith journey with God. For we think we know what's best, we think we know exactly what we need to get to that place, and we know what it is that we are wanting to ask God for. But my friend, we have to remember that faith isn't wanting something to happen. Faith isn't just hoping this situation will turn around. But faith is confidence in the fact that we have a God on our side that is going to take care of it all, and He is going to do what is right in this situation. Now, this right choice may not always be what we think should happen and it may not be something that we even wanted or expected, but part of this faith journey is trusting that God knows what He is doing, and He is going to do what is right. He is going to let His will be done in our lives and we, as His followers, need to listen to it and trust in Him.
This, my friends, is faith. It is not hoping you see what you want to see come to pass, but it is having confidence that you Father is going to take this situation and He is going to do what is right within it. He is going to lead you and guide to to places in which you can fulfill His will for you. We just need to trust and follow Him.
