How Do We Deal With Strained Relationships The Right Way?

"Greater is He that is in you, than He that is in the world." 1 John 4:4

Chances are that many of you had family over during the Holidays, even if you didn't, maybe there is still some stress between you and one of the relatives. Although the holidays are a time for joy and happiness, when all the family is gathered around in one house together, sparks can begin to fly. Even though we wish that every relationship with every family member that we have could be a perfect 50/50 effort, but that is usually not the case. So how do we go about these relationships in a Christian manner? Well, there are few steps that you need to take. Now, I am not saying that any of this will fix your relationship, but it will rather help you go about dealing with it. First of all, we need to watch our actions. It is perfectly human to get frustrated with somebody, but it is what we do with our frustration that matters. We shouldn't be carrying a bitter attitude or show hate to another person just because they may of not treated us as we would of expected they would. Second, we need to just stand back. take a deep breath, and remind ourselves that God is greater. I personally always refer to 1 John 4:4, the quote above. Lastly, we need to continue on with our lives. Let whatever happened between you and your family member go and don't let it affect your life any further. Once you take that second step and remember that God is greater, you will know that He can lift those burdens off of your shoulders and send you away with a fresh new attitude, only if you leave the past behind you. So go out today with a fresh attitude an have a great day, knowing that the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.
