"Happy moments praise God. Difficult moments, seek God. Quiet moments, worship God. Painful moments, trust God. Every moment, thank God." Rick Warren
I think that many people's relationship with God consists of seeking Him and trusting Him in the hard times and then praising and worshiping Him in the great times. Both of these things are great, yes. But what about those moments in between? Are we really only trusting, hoping in, seeking, and worshiping God in the drastic points in our lives?
Maybe this description matches yours today. Maybe you are just seeking God in the bad and praising Him in the good. Let me tell you that lots of people fall into this category. So how do we get out of it? How do we learn to grow our relationship with God so we are not only trusting Him in the bad and praising Him in the good, but we are growing closer to Him in all of the moments that are between?
First of all, we will start with the basics, and what you are doing now really. Praise Him in the happy moments. God has given you a gift, a blessing, a miracle! He wants to know that you are happy. He wants to hear you thank Him. Let that joy you are feeling overflow and praise God for the gifts He has given you.
Next, seek Him in the difficult moments. When times are dark and you are unsure of where to go, the only thing that you need to look for is God, and the good thing is, is that you won't have to look very far, because He is always right there with you and He will guide you through that situation.
Now, these are the points that I wanted to bring to your attention today. You know to praise Him in the good and seek Him in the bad, now it is time to fill those spots in between.
In the quiet moments of your life, worship God. When you have a quiet moment to yourself, it is a great opportunity to just spend that time with God. Listen to what He is telling you and talk back to Him, worship Him, and spend a bit of alone time with Him.
Next, in the painful moments of your life, in those moments where we all tend to wonder where God is, we need to trust Him. Trust that He will not bring a difficulty across your path that will not result in you becoming better than you were before. Just trust that He knows what He is doing.
So we have all these things, now what do we do during the other moments of our lives? Well, in every moment of your life, thank God. Thank Him for your life, thank Him for your job, thank Him that you have food on the table, a house to live in, thank God for everything.
When you do all these things, not only will you feel better, but you will see your relationship with God grow so much stronger.
