"Be present in all things and thankful for all things." Maya Angelou
Today is Memorial Day, and as we remember the fallen soldiers, we need to also remember what they fought for. This moment you are living, the freedoms that you have, really just your overall life, you have because others fought for it. The question is though, are you living your life to the fullest? Are you enjoying it? Are you thankful for it?
You see, especially today, we are reminded of what those soldiers did for us. But this life that you are living today, are you appreciating it as though someone worked incredibly hard and laid down their life to get you the freedoms that you have today? Rather than waking up in the morning and seeing all the stuff that needs to be done, rather than complaining that you have to go to work, look at your life with thankful eyes. See the gift that today actually is and begin to appreciate all of it.
Now, when we go through life discouraged, acting like we'd rather be anywhere else, we are not only forgetting to look for the freedoms that have been granted to us, but we are forgetting to look at the day that God has given us. There is so much in our lives that we miss out on seeing daily because we are so focused on the discouragements, all the stuff we have to do, that we have to go into work, but you know what? Rather than looking at these things in front of you as burdens, look at them as gifts. Gifts like this life that God has given you, and all of the opportunities and miracles He has placed in it, and for the freedom that these soldiers fought for so that we are able to enjoy that life!
So today, and every day for that matter, if you would remember that God created this life and everything in it for you, and people fought and laid down their lives so you might be able to enjoy it, all of the negative outlooks you have will begin to fade away, and you will begin to see how wonderful and what great a gift your life actually is. Begin to look with thankful eyes.
