"What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us."
Ralph Waldo Emerson
I think that, a lot of the time, we are so focused on whatever it is that is on the road in front of us, or even whatever it is behind us, that we are forgetting the most important aspect of our journey, we are forgetting to look within us.
You see, we don't know what is on the road ahead, and there is really no way of finding out, but so many people let this thought consume them, they feel as though they need to take control so that they are able to control their future, and when this is attempted, the result is that that person is going to feel lost, confused, and stressed out. Or maybe today you are looking behind you. You are looking back at what you came from, thinking to yourself, "look where I came from. There is no possible way that I could have this amazing future." Let me tell you this, that if this is where you are today, looking back at your past is only going to discourage you. It is only going to slow you down on the journey God has for you.
But listen here, I have some good news. No matter which boat you are in today, there is something that you are forgetting. You are forgetting about that something within you. That spirit of God that lives inside of you. And what does this do? Well, if you are looking at your future, it is telling you, "don't worry about that, I got it." And if you are looking back at your past, it is saying, "stop looking back, I've already taken care of that." You see, the road ahead is held by God, and He wants the best possible life for you. If you would just hand over control and stop worrying about what lies ahead, and start focusing on what's inside of you, you will see your life change for the better. And, if you are looking behind you, know that God has forgiven you of everything that happened back there and He has forgotten about it, which means that you should to. Move forward, listening to what's inside of you. Because that voice within knows better than any of us.
