"Don't shine so others can see you. Shine so that through you, others can see Him." C.S. Lewis
I have an assignment that I want you to take on today. I want you to go out, whether that be to your job, the store, your school, or even just your neighborhood, wherever it is that you normally go, what I want you to do is shine.
So what do I mean by shine? Well, most of the time, when people think of someone shining they think about them drawing attention towards themselves. They think that those people want to be noticed. Am I right? But you see, that is not at all what I am wanting you to do! See, by shining, I do want others to notice you. I want you to draw in their attention, but I don't want them to see you shining, I want them to see that the light shining within you is the light of the Lord, a light that maybe have never seen before. Because once they see that light, they are going to start wondering how they can get some as well.
So how is it that we shine? What are we supposed to do? Well you see, this is the great thing about it, is that even the simplest of things will shine the brightest light. Whether that be holding the door open for someone, talking to someone who looks like their feeling down, praying for someone that you see that needs God in their lives, smiling at a stranger. All of these little things will make your light shine so bright that people are just going to have to notice it! And you know what else it is that we can do to make the light known to others? Well, during the tough situations, during the times that would knock most people down, if we stand up in our faith and we don't let the difficulty going on around us disturb us, because we know that God's got it, that is the brightest light that you could ever shine. And when others see you, they are going to ask, "how do you stay so positive?" "How are you so strong?" And there, that is when you can share the light with them.
So today, remember your assignment. I want you to go out, and shine.
AMEN...
