"You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think."
Christopher Robin, Winnie the Pooh
This is truly one of my favorite quotes, and I feel like, through it, God is asking us to do something. He is asking us to take these ways that we look at ourselves, and really start looking at ourselves in the way that He sees us.
See, let me start off with the first point; "You are braver than you believe." Now think about it, how brave do you really believe yourself to be? Maybe you are facing a situation today where you have an obstacle in front of you, something that you have to overcome. Or maybe God has placed something within your heart. Something that He wants you to do. But, maybe you are feeling like you don't have enough courage to overcome or do these things. You feel like you aren't brave enough. But let me tell you this, that God created you with such a bravery that, with Him at your side, you can overcome anything that comes at you, you can do anything that He puts within your heart to do. And you will do so much better than you can even imagine. "You are braver than you believe."
The second point that this quote makes is that; "You are stronger than you seem." See, so many times we look at ourselves as weak. When we get knocked down by the enemy we doubt how many more times we will be able to get back up. We don't know if we can walk this path that God has for us, we just aren't strong enough. But see, God didn't create us to be weak. No, but He created us to be strong. Think of the verse Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." So it is not only our strength that we have to rely on, but we are filled with God's strength! The strength of the almighty and powerful God is within you, "you are stronger than you seem."
The last point that this quote makes is that "you are smarter than you think." And I think that, so many times we judge ourselves based on what we know, especially when it comes to God. You look around and say, "she knows so much more than I do," "he can recite all of those verses, I can only do a few," and "they are just so much smarter than me." But look, as long as you love God, as long as you are always trying to get to know Him better, as long as you do your best, and listen, that is the knowledge that God has blessed you with, and it it, He sees you as so much smarter than you see yourself. "You are smarter than you seem."
So today, stop looking at yourself with doubt, and really start looking at yourself the way that God sees you. Incredibly brave, strong, and smart.
