To Find Your Purpose...

"You cannot fulfill God's purpose for your life while focusing on your own plans." Rick Warren

Figuring out God's purpose for our lives can be confusing, and sometimes even overwhelming. We are being pulled in all different directions; in the direction that reality is pulling us in, one that our own dreams are pulling us in, one that all of the plans that we have made are pulling us in, and then the one that God is pulling us in. But here's the thing, how do we know which one is which? And which one should we follow?
Now you see, when we are being pulled in all of these directions that we have around us, it can be incredibly overwhelming. Because, for one, we have the things that reality is telling us to do, and reality is telling us that those dreams that we have aren't realistic, and that they can't possibly happen. But then there is the direction that our dreams are pulling us in; the direction in which we only hope that we could go in. The direction that, maybe we don't tell many people about, but instead pray and dream about it quietly. There is also the direction in which the plans that we have made are pulling us in. The direction in which we make all of the plans, we map everything out, and we figure out how this is going to work. And lastly, there is God's direction. The direction in which God is calling you to the purpose that He has created for you, the divine thing that He has created you for. But how do we know which ones to follow and which ones that we should eliminate?
Well listen, the ones that we need to eliminate, those are the plans made by reality that tell us that our dreams and these things that we feel called to do aren't possible, and we can eliminate these things by knowing that, even though they may seem impossible in the natural, our God, the one that has created our purpose, is a supernatural God that can overcome anything that may stand in His way. Then we need to get rid of the direction in which our own plans are pulling us. We need to stop trying to plan out how everything is going to work out and how it is all going to happen, and we need to start trusting that God will take care of us. He will make a way and lead us to where we are supposed to go, according to His plan, that is.
Then there are the directions that we need to follow. The ones that we should really listen to. We need to listen to the direction that our own dreams are pulling us in. The dreams that, without all of the boundaries of reality, we have within us. For those dreams were put there for a very good reason. Then lastly, there is the direction that God is pulling us in. The direction that, ultimately ties in with the dreams that He has put within us. And here's the thing, that He is not going to send us sailing into it ourselves, but He is going to have us listen to where He is instructing us to go; and that is exactly what we need to do. We need to listen for His direction that is going to tie in with the dreams that He is given us, and once we do, the ultimate purpose that He has given us and the direction that He has us to go in is going to be so much clearer.
