"He Must Become Greater, I must Become Less."

"He must become greater; I must become less." John 3:30

So many of us have ideas for what we want our lives to be. We try to figure it all out, and when we can't, then we try to search for answers. Now, notice that I italicized the words "our" and "we," and do you see how many times it is used in this short statement alone? That, my friend, is exactly what the problem is, and that is exactly why we aren't finding what it is that we are looking for.
So what do I mean exactly? Why is searching for answers, attempting to figure it out, and following the ideas for our lives so bad? Well, you see, it really isn't, unless, of course, you are trying to do it all yourself. You see, as it says in John 3:30, "He must become greater, I must become less." This means that to hear what God is trying to say to us, to find the direction in which He is trying to lead us in, we need to become less. We need to stop acting like we have have control of it all, like we know everything that's going to happen, that's God's job, and when we try to do that, we will never see what it is that He has in store for us. So we need to become less. We need to stop thinking that we know it all, because the truth is that the only one that does know it all is that one that we need to allow to become greater in our lives.
So how is it that we can make ourselves "become less?" Well,  we have to replace most of the words our and we with the one word, God. We have to rejoice in the idea of what God wants our lives to be. We don't have to figure it all out because God has it in the palm of His hand, and, if we are willing to listen to God and do what it is that He tells us to, then we will find the answers that we were once searching so hard for.
So today, become less in your life. Give up control and hand it all over to God. Let Him become greater.
