Do you understand what is going on in your life today, or are you asking God why? Are you confused and not understanding where it is that God has you to go or what it is that He has you to do? Are you going through a hard situation in which you are asking why it is that God would put you through this? If you are any one of these today, or in any other situation in which you are confused, let me tell you that, you may not understand, but the good news is that you don't have to.
Now, I know that this task is easier said than done. After all, we are human. We want to know why something is happening and how it is going to work out so that we are able to work within ourselves to make us feel better about whatever it is that is happening. But see, we shouldn't let our happiness depend on our level of understanding, for I can guarantee you in life, that there are going to be a lot of things, a lot of situations, a lot of difficulties, and a lot of unanswered questions that we are not going to understand. But like I said before, we don't have to.
See, in the quote above, Proverbs 3:5, God tells us that we shouldn't depend on our own understanding. He is telling us that, basically, we are not going to understand a lot of things that happen or don't happen in our lives, and He doesn't want us to. For there is a reason behind it that is so complex, that is going to lead to a future so bright, that if someone were to tell you why you were going through this, you wouldn't even believe them. God doesn't want you to know what your future holds, but instead, He wants you to trust Him with it. He wants you to not know what lies ahead so that you have no other choice but to lay it in His hands, and that is what it is that God is wanting us to do when we don't understand. It says it right in the verse. He wants us to trust in Him. And, I love this part, it doesn't just say trust in Him, it doesn't say give a little bit over to Him and you can take care of the rest. No. But it says trust in Him "with all your heart." Give Him all of it. You may not understand, but He does, so hand it all over to Him and trust Him with it. For when you do, not only will you have the weight and the stress of figuring it all out lifted off of your shoulders, but you will see your life in flourish in new and unexpected ways.
