In your life today, maybe you are questioning God, wondering why it is that after praying incessantly, and so desperately wanting this one thing, He didn't give it to you. Maybe you are beginning to feel as though He doesn't care or as though He isn't listening. If this is you today, my friend, I want to encourage you to not lose faith and trust in the fact that God knows exactly what He is doing.
Now you see, I think that so many times we just expect God to give us what we want. I once heard this idea compared to a vending machine; we put a prayer in and God gives us what we prayed for, just like that. But, I'm sorry to say that this is not the case. God doesn't just give us whatever it is that we ask for, and, as nice as we think that might be if it could happen, by not doing so He is actually protecting us from so much more than we could even know.
You see, when God doesn't seem to give you what it is that you are asking for, it is for a reason, and a good reason at that. He can see the future that lies ahead of you, the future that He created for you, and it doesn't include this thing that you are asking for, and He knows that, if He did grant you with this, that it would steer you off of that path that He has for your life. See, He really isn't telling you "no," I don't believe that He ever does that, but instead He is telling you, "I have something better in store." See, this is why we need to trust Him! Like the quote says above, faith isn't this vending machine that you put a prayer in and a blessing comes out, but faith is trust in God that, if this isn't meant to happen, God is going to do the right thing; the thing that keeps you going down the path that He has for your life.
So today, I know it may be disappointing to not get what it is that you want, I mean, we are human, but if you would just trust that God has something better in store for you and that a redirection away from this is only benefiting you, that is when you are truly going to relish in the blessing of trusting God and His plan for your life.
