"Pray more, worry less." Matthew 6:34
Four small words with such great meaning. Four words that, if you really listen to them, could ultimately change your life for the better. But how do we start? How do we dig in to these four words and really know what they mean, how do we really absorb what Matthew 6:34 is telling us? Well, it is actually probably more simple than you might have imagined...
First of all, I want you to know that worrying is a natural human emotion, and we are clearly all human, so we are going to face worry in this life, I am, you are, everybody will face worry, but the thing that we have to see is that we have weapons against this worry. God has fully equipped us with the tools we need to face it because He knew that we would. So what are these tools He has granted us with?
Well one of the tools is His strength. Worries will try to knock you down, try to get you to stop doing certain things that you really like doing, but with the strength of God, we can power through it, with such a great strength within us, we need to stand up to worry and tell it that it can not knock us down! Next, we have His protection. No matter what we are worried about, one thing that we can have confidence in is that God is our shield, the maker of the heavens and the earth and everything on it is protecting us, so you truly don't have to fear when you have God as your shield.
Lastly, is the power of prayer. One of the strongest weapons that you could possibly have, and you have it in your possession. Now, when worry comes our way, when we are fighting a difficult battle with it, pull out the power of prayer. Look up to Heaven and say, "God, I give all of my worries over to you. I know that if I lay them at your feet, you will take care of everything. God clear my mind and help me to truly understand and enjoy the greatness that you have for me in this life." Once you pray this prayer, you will see that worry that you are facing shrink down to nothing, you will begin to feel a new sense of freedom in knowing that God has given you all the weapons you need to face your worry and know that God, is going to take care of you.
