Don't Dig Up Your Faith With Your Doubt

"Don't dig up in doubt what you planted in faith." Elisabeth Elliot

I want you to take a minute to think about this visual that the quote above offers up. Okay, picture a garden, completely empty, perfect dirt laid across the ground. We take our seeds, and we dig a hole, we make sure their positioned right, we water the seeds and take care of them. But then let's say, after about a month or so of growing, you begin to see a green sprout coming up, but that's all that you are seeing. You wait a few more days, but nothing has changed, so you go out there and yank up the plant, convinced that it's not going to go anywhere or do anything.
Is this how you are in your faith today? Are we digging up what we once planted in our faith because it is not seeming to go anywhere? Well let me tell you this, that's the doubt talking, and that doubt is the thing that is telling you to go over, take up your once planted faith, and go, because it's not going anywhere. But listen, even though that doubt is telling you that nothing is ever going to come out of this, and frankly on the outside, it looks like your doubt is right, you just have to trust that you faith is going to stay rooted in the ground and it is going to grow, it is going to grow so strong and take you so many places that you never thought you could have gone before. God is going to make sure that, in His timing, things are going to start to happen and things are going to start changing, but none of this is going to happen if you take the advice of your doubt and dig up your planted faith.
