Leave The Harbour

"Ships in harbour are safe, but that's not what ships are built for." John Shedd

I want you to take a minute and think about a boat on the water. When it is sitting there in the harbour, the boat is safe and sound, not going anywhere. But now let me ask you this; What is it that boats are meant to do? They are meant to leave the harbour and go out on the water. They are meant to go places, to accomplish things, but if the boats were to stay in the dock the entire time, they would never experience any of that.
You see, we are those boats. We like to stay in the "harbour" because it is all safe and sound. We know that if there are ever any rough water we are going to be kept in one place. But let me ask you this; Did God create you to stay in one place? Of course He didn't! God created you just like those boats were created. You aren't meant to stay in the "harbour" your entire life! But you are meant to actually go out on the waters, chase your dreams, accomplish new things, and seek new new opportunities! Yes, every once and a while there is going to be a storm or two, and it will make the waters a little rough, but that is what your faith is for, an anchor, if you will, so that during these storms and during these times of rough waters, you have something to keep you steady, something to keep you safe.
So today, I want to encourage you to leave the "harbour" because you're never going to reach the great things that God has for you if you don't. Go out on the waters, and remember that, even if they get rough, you have your anchor to keep you steady. Go out and accomplish your dreams, follow the path that God has for you, find new opportunities, and discover how miraculous your life can be.

  1. Beautiful post Hands Raised Devotions. God is alive and well and to join Him we must get out of our comfort zone and live according to His will. Its not easy but with Christ's courage no matter how rough the sea becomes everything will work out. Thanks for spreading His message.
