"I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am." Philippians 4:11
We're all human, and when tough situations arise, we get stressed, we get upset, heartbroken, worried, and overwhelmed. These are just natural human emotions, but wouldn't it be great if we didn't have to feel them? Well guess what? We don't. What? I know what you're thinking right now, "how in the world are we supposed to not feel our typical human emotions?" Well let me tell you, that when you have a supernatural God, He can surpass any normal emotion that you have.
So how do we do this? Well, you see, we start by taking our worry and control, like I had mentioned in yesterday's post, and handing it over to God. Once you've done that, well, now if a situation does arise, you can't immediately go into panic mode, but you have to stay calm, and keep telling yourself that, "God's will will be done, He wants the best for me." See, when you tell yourself that God's will is going to be done in any situation, it relieves the stress of having to know how it is going to end and brings you peace in knowing that God is already working on it, trying to find the best outcome for you.
Next, you need to remind yourself to be still. You actually have to turn your ear towards heaven and listen to God. But so many times, amidst the chaos, the worry, and the stress, we can't hear anything else. So clear your mind of those things, don't spend any more of your valuable time thinking about them, and instead, listen to God, who is going to be saying "I've got this. You don't have to worry. Just be still and trust me." Right there, that is the last step, we need to trust Him. Trust that, if He has brought us this far, He is going to bring us even farther. He does not want you to fail, and He is not going to let that happen, and you have to know that, even though stress, worry, panic, and feeling overwhelmed and upset are all natural emotions, we serve a supernatural God, who is greater than any emotion or anything that we might be facing.
AMEN.. .
ReplyDeleteI have found it helpful to visualize casting my care physically onto Him, watching that mountain of trouble being cast into the sea, or seeing myself yoked to Jesus, with him carrying the weight of the load as long as I stay next to Him under that yoke.
